Borodin
Alexander Porfir’yevich Borodin was born in St Petersburg (Leningrad) on 12 November 1833. Borodin is world renowned for his achievements in classical music, particularly his opera, Prince Igor. What the majority of people do not know is that he was predominantly a highly skilled organic chemist, whilst his composing was only a part-time hobby which he had largely taught himself.
